Nicole Farhi's Autumn Winter 2009 collection is a range of vibrant pieces, mixing
the traditional with the unusual by opening with a classic tweed coat woven in a
rainbow of colours, and 1940's silhouettes fabricated in modern sheer metallic printed
chiffon or embellished cashmere knitwear.
The focus is on the shoulder and sleeve, with strong and pronounced proportions
set against pencil shapes and high waists, in bold colours and lush fabrics. Oversized
cashmere knit sleeves appear alongside pleated column structures', cracked metallic
leather boleros and tailored multi-coloured sequin embroidered trousers, to make
this collection unexpected and refined.
The colour palette is rich and playful, from glamorous scarlet and fuchsia, to copper
and gunmetal metallics. The collection is a joyful exploration of colours reminiscent
of candy floss and sweet wrappers in differing tones and textures down to the architectural
vintage silver metal heel.
The Nicole Farhi woman is strong and knows her own mind; she chooses her clothes
with confidence as an expression of herself -
'This collection is glamorous and quirky without taking itself too seriously, it
has a sense of fun' Nicole Farhi
